The following medical imaging technologies available at our Clinic:
X-ray
A photographic plate or film is used to produce images of the internal organs and bones of a patient.The part of the patient to be X-rayed is placed between the X-ray source and the photographic receptor to produce what is a shadow of all the internal structure of that particular part of the body being X-rayed.
Mammography
Mammography uses low dose x-rays to gain high-quality images of breast tissue. A mammography exam (mammogram) is the most effective tool for detecting breast cancer early. Mammography is the primary diagnostic imaging tool for woman over the age of 35 if they are symptomatic, or over 40 as a screening test. Typically, four images are taken (two of each side) compressing the breast between two plates for several seconds. This can cause mild discomfort, but that should not persist.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging is a common diagnostic medical procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic images (sonograms) of organs, tissues or blood flow inside the body. Our Radiologists perform a wide variety of scans (including breast and prostate scans) and also undertake interventional procedures using ultrasound imaging.
